BIOGRAPHY

Leonard Toschev, a third generation German violinist, was born in 2005 in Leipzig, Germany.

He started playing violin at the age of four  and already at the age of eleven he began his studies at the University of Arts (UdK) in Berlin as junior student of Professor Tomasz Tomaszewski. Further on Leonard studied with Professor Boris Garlitsky at the Folkwang University and with Professor Koh Gabriel Kameda at the Hochschule für Musik in Münster.

Since 2022 Leonard has been studying with Professor Friedemann Eichhorn, since 2023 as  bachelor student at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, Germany.

Master classes with Zakhar Bron, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, Petru Munteanu, Nora Chastain, Michaela Martin and Boris Kuschnir enhanced his musical education.

18-year-old violinist Leonard Toschev is a winner and laureate of several international and national music competitions such as "Arthur Grumiaux" in Brussels, Belgium (1st prize), "Ohrid Pearls" in Ohrid, North Macedonia (Grand Prix), "Georg Philipp Telemann" in Poznan, Poland (1st prize and special prize), "Concorso Postacchini" in Fermo, Italy (3rd prize and special prize), "Kloster Schöntal", "Young Ludwig Music Competition" in Berlin (1st prize and special prize) , "Jascha Heifetz Competition" in Vilnius, Lithuania, "38th Valsesia Musica International Competition" in Varallo, Italy (2nd prize) as well as  "WDR-3 Classic Prize of the City Münster" and Isa-Soloist-Award of the Isa-Festival in Austria.

Leonard Toschev made his debut as a soloist with orchestra at the age of 11 and has played since then with such orchestras as the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau, Staatskapelle Halle, Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz Reichenbach, Sion Festival Orchestra,  Loh-Orchester Sondershausen and Bergische Symphoniker.

As a scholarship holder of the German Foundation "Musikleben", Leonard Toschev has been playing since 2019 a violin by Enrico Ceruti, Cremona 1845, generously loaned him by the German Music Instrument Fund.
